This is the first release on my non-label On My Own terms/Time (OMOTT for short). This EP revolves around the psychological idea of "projection". The idea is that a person unconsciously shifts their own unaccepted thoughts, feelings or personality traits onto another person or group. Whether that be positive or negative, though often informed through an inability to discern their own desires and caring for them.

The artwork features a mostly empty space and a pool in which a woman is partly submersed. Alongside her floats a almost transparant shape shifting blob, perhaps the projections of that person which have taken shape in an almost physical form.

The title Projection Palace, comes from this concept and the ideas I had surrounding it. Like you could build an entire life around it and it would be the home of your mind, built around anxieties and helplesness, because you are not likely to realise that what is happening is because of your own doing.

A1: Projection Palace (Reflections Mix) The title refers to the central theme of the ep which refers to a psychological principle of “projection”, whereby you project certain (negative) qualities onto others without them being necessarily right.
Quite often the projections say a lot more about the person who’s doing the projecting rather than the person on the receiving end.
This track is a journey, owing to tracks like Massive Attacks’ “Unfinished Sympathy”, trying to make a lot of breaks work together and fuzzy warm Korg sounds.

A2: The title “Micro Expressions” refers to tiny little behaviours that give away moods and can function as cues as to what is really going on, but then in interpreting these little things we have to rely on projecting what someone else might be feeling.
The tune itself was simply a bunch of programmed beats from single hits with a upbeat rave stab, some G-funk style strings, a bell melody inspired by old Plaid tunes , a slapping bass and the vocal sample which brings about nostalgic rave vibes .

B1: A 160-jungle-footwork-4/4 track which is all about exploring punk ideas and all the alarms, glitches and bleep textures and boastful bass sounds. The title came from a film called “Breakfast at Tiffanies” and can be heard at various places throughout the track as well as some samples that clearly deal with some form of judgment ("everyone expects a bad penny to turn up sooner or later” and “get stuffed”.
Taken from “Frenzy” directed by Alfred Hitchcock). !

B2: Projection Palace (Night Terrors Mix) A reprise from the A1 track, this Night Terrors mix is a reworking of the title track. Higher in tempo, more aggressive, ravey and a true walk down memory lane at it’s darkest.

The entire project took nearly a year from start to finish. From making the music to having the tunes mastered and producing all the art work, which I've mostly made in Cinema 4d. And the making of related assets.  It's been a very interesting process and it has offered me a perspective on all the different elements that go into creating a physical music release.

This release was in part made possible by the Sena production fund. After the whole ep was written the tunes were made to shine that much more by Bob Macciochi  at Subvert Central. And I'm very happy to have been able to rely on my long time friends at Triple Vision to handle the majority of the physical sales and distribution to recordshops and individuals around the globe.

This EP has seen early support from people like Tom Ravenscroft, Anz, Gremlinz, Dubrunner, Sicknote, Chrissy, Mark Archer/altern8e, Sam Binga, Fracture, Djinn & others!
